Spiders

A lot of people have an innate sense of fear with spiders. They are tiny insect carnivores with eight legs and multiple sets of eyes that creep silently, trap and attack their prey, paralyzing them and liquifying their innards for sustenance. Legs, fangs, eyes - furry or shiny - they are just darn creepy. Our guts tell us 'Danger! Avoid!" And that's what makes them perfect for Halloween. Some have made an entire spider themed haunt to great effect. Spiders are one of the staples of Halloween decorating and are always available to buy in most any size, from tiny bags full, to gargantuan versions to leaping versions, remote controlled versions, and projected swarms of them. And there are plenty of tutorials on making your own. If you want to really put a shiver down someones spine, ad a few spiders to your display. You will see at least 5% of your crowd chicken out at a spider theme - without even seeing the first little (or big) critter.

Webs

If you have spiders, you need to have webs. Sometimes webs are all you need. From the old school technique of typing some fishing line above a walkway so it brushes against their face, to webcasters that shoot rubber cement or hot glue based webs, to the dollar bag of fluff that stretches out to give a decent effect, to mock webbing made from beef netting - there are plenty of ways to make spider webs and have them show to suit your display. You can even wrap bones and prop bodies in webbing to look like some victims have not made it out. And there is also the web covered sac of spider eggs just about ready to hatch.
